WONDERFUN 2022 HOCKEY SEASON UPDATE!
Registration for 2022 will open October 1, 2022
Important Note for the 2022 Wonderfun Hockey Season!
The City of St. Albert has imposed COVID Protocols at Rinks t
his year! The rink shacks will follow a maximum capacity limit this year.
They are limited to 1/3 capacity and are shared spontaneously. Please see the capacities for each rink below. These will also be posted at each rink. Masks must be worn inside the rooms. We encourage participants to come dressed to play. Obviously COVID-19 Restrictions are out of our control, but we will work to the best of our ability to give your child the best experience possible!
Larose 8 Capacity
Flagstone 8 Capacity
In the Past our Flagstone Tuesday Session Shack was not manned but we had access to it! As of today this shack will not be accessible during the Tuesday Session at all unless something changes! I do understand this might not be ideal! If this is a problem parents can request a session change to Larose on Wednesday.
Wonderfun Hockey is excited to welcome players, parents, coaches and spectators back to the rink for our 2022 hockey season.
Due to the current provincial state of public health emergency, the Alberta Government recently introduced temporary health measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
What are the restrictions for under participants under 18?
Do youth need to provide vaccination proof?
City of St. Albert--On December 21, 2021, the Government of Alberta announced new public health measures to reduce contact between Albertans as Omicron cases continue to grow.
New mandatory measures take effect at 12:01 a.m. on December 24 are:
For venues in the Restrictions Exemption Program – 50 per cent capacity limit at venues that seat more than 1,000 people. For venues with capacity of between 500 and 1,000 occupants, 500 is the limit.
No food or drink consumption in seated audience settings or during intermissions in the above-mentioned venues.
City facilities impacted by this measure include Go Auto Arena in Servus Credit Union Place, Jarome Iginla/Kinex Arenas and the Arden Theatre in St. Albert Place.
There is no impact on venues under 500.
As announced by Dr. Hinshaw on September 20, youth under 18 who are participating in a sport, recreation or performance activity will not be required to provide proof of vaccination at City recreational or cultural facilities.
Our programs utilize City of St. Albert facilities and we will continue to adhere to the facility policies set by these partners.
While our Sessions are outdoors, we cannot guarantee dressing rooms at this time! More to follow in December when the City will publish to us the ODR Guidelines!
Please be advised that our Final Ice-Time is INDOORS at SERVUS Place in March and the ST. ALBERT RESTRICTIONS EXCEMPTON does apply. The Restrictions Exemption Program will be in place for as long as the Province mandates this.
Finally I would encourage parents to get involved and volunteer with this organization. If you can spare a few hours to volunteer that would be a great help in keeping this organization going!
We need Rink Managers and Coaches! If we do not get volunteers for each registered 2022 group, those session might be cancelled!
John, President Wonderfun Hockey!

Note: for the 2022 season positions, we would like to have the new volunteers begin their involvement during this season - so please contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in these positions!
On Ice Volunteers will required to show proof of Vaccination to be able to participate!
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Each group must have one Rink Manager Volunteer and coachs for sessions to be a go! Sessions will be cancelled if we get no volunteers!
Who We Are...
We are a small community organization of parents that have been running an outdoor hockey program for children and youth since 1992. We play on outdoor rinks around St. Albert from the first week in January to the last week in Feb. It is a short season but the kids play twice a week for one hour. Best of All you do not need to be a St. Albert resident! We have registrations from Edmonton, Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, Morinville, Legal and others in the greater Edmonton Area!
We provide a non-contact, fun environment for children and youth ages 5-16 to experience hockey the way it used to be played.. Outside.
Games will start on the first week of January. Your Rink Manager will be in contact with you in the middle of December.
Let's cheer for the good ol' hockey game!
